Our Goals and Objectives

During our month long alternative break, delegates have five objectives to address the issues facing Chacraseca locals. First, we will be assisting in the classroom, helping teach English to the elementary school students, as well as assisting teachers in checking and assigning homework assignments. Secondly, we will be developing an after-school enrichment program for elementary and high school students, again aimed toward improving English speaking, reading, and writing abilities. In addition to the education aspect, we also provide a fun environment in which we play games with kids or do different art projects with them. Our third objective is to have delegates lend a helping hand to doctors and nurses in the local health clinic—working on patient intake, basic biometrics, and patient care. Within this aspect of health, delegates will additionally have the opportunity to work with health care providers to deliver public health presentations for community members, which would address health concerns relevant to the community.  Another goal our delegation hopes to accomplish is creating a demonstration lot of sustainable farming. We want to educate community members and help them create usable plots of land to have gardens that provide fresh produce to provide families with necessary nutrients. Lastly, delegates will assist in the construction of houses and stoves for families in Chacraseca, working side-by-side with local community members to assist in development and empowerment of families living in poverty. The construction of these amenities is especially impactful on the health of community members.  Our ultimate goal is to work in solidarity with the community and accomplishing the goals they want accomplished while our delegation is there for a month.
